A breakdown of some of the more interesting figures to emerge from the igaming industry in the past seven days...

400 - The increase in percentage of live bets taken by Pinnacle year on year from 2015 to 2016. The bookmaker won two awards (SBC and EGR) for its esports betting this year, and it revealed some statistics on Twitter which included this phenomenal live betting growth in addition to Dota 2 being the title which has seen the most growth in bets placed at a rate of 205% year on year.

13,000,000 - The number of UK homes which will be able to watch Newbury racing coverage over the New Year free of charge thanks to Racing UK. It’ll be aired on Sky 432 and Virgin 536, as well as a free to view stream on www.racinguk.com; Racing UK got involved after Channel 4 decided to axe it from its schedule.

22 - Sportium became the 22nd regulated operator to join ESSA this week. The operator, which is Spanish and an official partner of La Liga, became the fourth to join the global betting integrity body this year. Khalid Ali, Secretary General of ESSA, stated: "The continuing growth in our membership base is a clear sign of the increasing recognition of many major operators to the significant advantages that can be achieved from acting in partnership with ESSA to identify, disrupt and report betting related fraud."

223,000 - The amount in pounds sterling won by a 26 year old BetVictor customer on a 20 fold football accumulator at the weekend. Two extra time goals were needed for the audacious bet to go through, and the punter received over £15,000 more than they would have due to the bookmaker’s ‘Price Promise’ which gives customers more had they won more with another operator.

50,000,000 - Amount in Euros that Playtech has spent on buying back its own shares within the past fortnight. This is part of the company’s buyback programme which was launched recently. The shares have since slid back from their highs of around 948p in October to a current level of around 785p. This means that the company is valued at over £2.49bn.

18 - Jockey James McDonald has been banned from racing for 18 months for breaching betting rules. A $1,000 was placed on his behalf on Astern in late 2015, and the 24 year old New Zealander has been disqualified by the Racing NSW. He has stated that he will appeal the penalty.
