Easy Payment Gateway COO Jose Manuel Peral discusses the group’s latest funding round

Easy Payment Gateway recently completed a £5.5 million venture funding round. The company’s chief operating officer, Jose Manuel Peral, spoke to TotallyGaming.com about how this round of funding will help the online payments company expand into new markets.

TotallyGaming: Easy Payment Gateway has raised £5.5 million in its latest funding round. Can you explain how this funding will be used to ‘drive operational growth’ in your offices in Malta, Madrid and London?

Jose Manuel Peral: The funds will be used to establish Easy Payment Gateway in new markets. We like to be close to merchants we consider partners. In addition, we are currently automating many processes that have not been updated in decades in the industry. Finally, have made significant investments into a new project which must stay under wraps for now. But watch this space.

TG: Your latest release also notes that you will consider using the funds to expand into new markets such as Israel and South America. Why are these markets, in particular, on your radar?

JMP: Because there is a growing need for state-of-the-art payment platforms in these regions. The online gambling market in Europe is overcrowded, and we believe operators expand their reach into these new territories as they look to drive growth. We have invested a lot of money, resources and time in Asia and Latin America to prepare the ground for their arrival.

TG: You’ve indicated your intention to spread this investment over two phases, how long do you anticipate it being before investors begin to see growth as a result of their investment?

JMP: Our investors are already seeing growth as a result of backing Easy Payment Gateway. At present, our revenue is up 25% on a month-by-month basis, and we expect this level of increase to continue for the rest of the year and beyond.

TG: What are the main challenges currently facing the payment solutions sector, and how is Easy Payment Gateway working to overcome these hurdles?

JMP: Merchants have become more experienced and know what they want. Easy Payment Gateway focuses on creating powerful and flexible tools that allow them to fully control their payment flows and rules. Not only that, but they are designed and developed to be highly intuitive and user friendly so that any  payment manager can work with, and benefit from, them.

TG: More generally how has business been for Easy Payment been in the first quarter of 2017? Do you have any other significant company news to report?

JMP: We have had a fantastic start to the year. We have integrated over 15 new solutions, while several platforms are now integrated with us, too. From the merchant side, we signed deals with BetVictor, Colossus Bets, Breakout Gaming and many more. But for us what really make us happy is that our merchants continue to heap praise on our best-of-breed technology and the world-class service we offer.
