The Slot Summit set for ‘vibrant’ Bucharest

The international slot machine industry will converge on the “vibrant” market of Romania when the Slot Summit takes place in Bucharest in June, according to the event’s Director of Content and Delivery, Lucien Wijsman.

The Summit, which was held for the first time in Slovenia in 2012, is returning to its Eastern European roots after recent editions were staged in France and Germany.

“This is a great time to go to Romania as it is arguably the most mature and vibrant slot machine market in Eastern Europe,” Wijsman told TotallyGaming.com.

“We started out in Slovenia, so it’s good to head back east again. We expect about half of the visitors to come from abroad, and the programme’s outlook will be truly international.

“It will be an excellent chance for operators and suppliers to network and it will be fun as well as a chance to learn about current and future trends. The evening programme will offer entertainment, so people can network in a more informal atmosphere.”

The Slot Summit will focus on the theme of multimedia management on the opening day, June 9, followed by a varied agenda for the next two days, from June 10-11.

The programme will cover marketing insight and innovation, the latest gaming floor trends, case studies, new technologies and cutting-edge game development.

“We received feedback from attendees that they wanted to hear from other operators, so there will be a range of topics, looking at the trends and what people in the slot machine industry need to know over the coming years,” Wijsman added.

“What is going to happen with tablet technology? What sort of communications will be used by casinos in the future? How are games designed?

“These – and more – are all interesting topics that are relevant for people who work in the slot machine industry.”

The Slot Summit is the conference sister brand of the Slot Academy educational service. Both companies were acquired by Clarion Events last year.

“Now with Clarion Events involved, I think attendees will recognise an improvement in the Slot Summit, and hopefully they will leave Bucharest with a clearer picture of the industry,” he added.
