ICE: Gaming Realms’ Slingo Riches voted ‘Game to Watch 2015’

Wednesday, February 4, 2015

‘Slingo Riches’, a new online hybrid bingo-slot title from Gaming Realms, has been voted as the ‘Game to Watch 2015’ by delegates at this year’s ICE Totally Gaming.

In a ceremony that marked the end of the ‘Game Design and Development’ conference at the show, those in attendance picked the Gaming Realms title from a list of five finalists.

All of the contenders were given a limited amount of time to convince delegates to vote for their title before being quizzed by a panel of judges.

The five-person panel comprised Bruce Bale of Sky Betting and Gaming, Shane Stafford from Paddy Power, Plumbee’s Raf Kenstermans, Yariv Lavi of 888 Holdings, and Mark Clohessy from Betclic Everest Group.

Alongside Slingo Riches, the games in the running for the ‘Game to Watch 2015’ honour were titles from Unusual Studios, Genesis Gaming, SUNFOX Games and Virtual Intellectual Projects.

Unusual Studios was praised by the judges for its ‘Epic Eleven’ fantasy sports title, which has been tested and is ready to launch, with the company currently seeking partners in various markets. A new virtual sports title in the form of ‘Virtual Boxing’ from Virtual Intellectual Projects could also cause waves in the sports betting market.

Elsewhere, Genesis Gaming put forward its ‘Machine-Gun Unicorn’ online video slot. Due out in April, the company said the game has been designed to attract players through its unusual name.

SUNFOX Games’ entry ‘The Casino Job Jackpot’ proved to be the judges’ choice, with four out of five of the panel naming the online video slot as their game to watch. The title drew praise from the judges for its rich graphics and story mode, which featured a group of criminals attempting to break into a casino.

However, it was Slingo Riches from Gaming Realms that took home the title after being declared the clear winner by delegates, who placed their votes via the ICE Totally Gaming mobile application. The hybrid bingo-slot title first appeared on AOL 15 years ago while a more recent Zynga Facebook version also proved popular, reaching 50 million users within six months of its launch on the social network.

David Hampstead, chief technology officer of Gaming Realms, was on hand to pick up the award on behalf of the company.
