Unikrn looks to Vegas with acquisition of esports firm LEET

Unikrn, the esports only bookmaker, has revealed that it is set to acquire LEET.

LEET is a tournament organiser which works with casinos to help them to run their own events. Much of its work to date has been in Las Vegas and the firm has worked with the Downtown Grand, which became the first casino in Las Vegas to offer esports before the likes of The Luxor and others woke up and got involved.

Speaking to Totally Gaming, Unikrn CEO Rahul Sood said: “I fundamentally believe that the greatest threat to casinos is not understanding their future customers. It is for that reason that many operators are still trying to protect businesses that are on the decline. Unikrn and LEET aim to change this. We have an end to end solution that will allow casinos to offer exciting experiences for fans of esports and video games.

“No one understands this audience better than us, our customers aren't just customers, they're fans.”

The news was revealed on the Unikrn site, and it was noted that both companies will ‘continue to work with these casinos while creating new and highly engaging experiences’ for the casino industry.

Kingsley Edwards, Founder and CEO of LEET said of the deal: “Our company has seen growth throughout 2016 with our casino events business and we’re looking forward to an even better 2017 and beyond with Unikrn. It’s clear that casinos are in need of a modern strategy to engage young adults. Unikrn and LEET provide exactly that with our complimentary suite of esports products, community reach, and talented team.”

Unikrn, which works with Tabcorp, has made various interesting moves outside of those we’d normally expect from an online bookmaker. For example it invested in Berlin based esports organisation BIG in January. It is also a member of the Esports Integrity Coalition alongside other bookies such as Betway and Pinnacle, and casino related companies such as GameCo. In recent times Unikrn has added Rocket League to its offering, and this now sits alongside League of Legends, Dota 2, CS:GO and a number of others on the platform.

Totally Gaming says: This new move by Unikrn into Las Vegas is no great surprise. With the city fully embracing esports, it makes sense for a Seattle based esports only bookmaker which has invested in a team to be involved in putting on tournaments in casinos. It’ll be fascinating to see the delivery of these with these two companies working as one with Unikrn now able to offer an 'end to end solution' for casinos.
