Members of the Native American gaming fraternity are heading over to London next month in order to discuss the best ways to develop the global vision necessary to push the sector forward.

Tribal representatives will be visiting both UK Parliament for the Tribal Business Diversification Summit and the ICE Totally Gaming show at ExCeL where there will be dedicated seminars on the second day focusing on tribal gaming.

Victor Rocha of Pechanga.net noted that the trip has particular resonance as 400 years ago Pocahontas, the sojourning Powhatan from Virginia, met King James I of England at a theatre performance at the Whitehall Palace in London. The occasion was noted in history because it was first known meeting of the King of England and a Native American on British soil.

This means that the Tribal Business Diversification Summit on 6 February 2017 where another group of Native Americans will meet in the UK at the Palace of Westminster as guests of Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne has echoes through history.

The event was created by Baroness Nicholson, the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA) & Victor-Strategies to foster better relations between Native American tribes and business entities in the UK and abroad.

Rocha explained: “Native American tribes understand that a good business strategy today requires a global vision. The Mohegan and the Seminole tribes recently signed historic business deals halfway around the world from their reservations. Deals that were unimaginable ten years ago. Why them? Why now? Because gaming has made them astute entrepreneurs.

“Also, the gaming market in the US is maturing and tribes are looking at business diversification. They might be the vanguard, but they’re not alone. Right behind them are dozens of tribes also looking to expand their business horizons. Pocahontas would be proud.”

After the Tribal Business Diversification Summit, there will be seminar sessions at ICE Totally Gaming designed to educate the global gaming industry about the $30bil US tribal gaming industry.

The sessions presented by members of the National Indian Gaming Association, Oklahoma Gaming Association, and Arizona Indian Gaming Association will discuss in great detail the ramifications of the recent US Presidential Elections, Class II Gaming, innovation & emerging gaming technology in Indian Country.

Rocha added: “Personally, I feel there’s no better place to see the gaming industry in all its glory that ICE Totally Gaming.”

Totally Gaming says: The Native American gaming industry provides an interesting perspective on how gaming can be used by communities rather than corporations, although that doesn’t mean that their developments are any less commercially successful. Visitors to ICE Totally Gaming could stand to learn a lot from their experiences.
