Overall gambling in the US state was down in terms of winnings

Nevada sportsbooks recorded their second busiest month ever in October, despite overall gaming seeing a 2.85 per cent year-on-year decline in winnings.

According to Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) statistics, some $504.6m (€472.6m) was wagered in the US state, with a profit of $33.6m, which was second only to November 2014, when $535m was bet and $32.4m held. The rise came during the same month that daily fantasy sports (DFS) operators were ordered to cease operating without a relevant gaming licence.

Winnings were actually down slightly on the $35.6m recorded in September 2015, although revenue in that month was $457.4m.
Betting on NFL American football and college leagues was the main gain year-on-year, with a 4.7 per cent increase to $397.8m, and 38.8 per cent leap in winnings to $23.6m.

For the month of October, Nevada casinos won $887.6m which is a 2.85 per cent decrease from October 2014. The month was also down from the  $916.3m won in September 2015.
