Patent will strengthen GameAccount's US proposition – CEO

Online gaming systems and content developer GameAccount Network has strengthened its “income and market share” opportunities in the US after being awarded a patent in the country for its iBridge Framework product, according to chief executive Dermot Smurfit.

The iBridge Framework enables integration of an internet gaming system with a land-based casino’s rewards points programme and allows points to be awarded to patrons based on their online activities such as registering, depositing, purchasing and gaming.

“This patent supports our general product and service proposition in the US,” Smurfit (pictured) told

“We are offering something that is unique in the US and this patent will open up income and market share opportunities.

“We are delivering on our mandate to take market share in the US. We have signed up four casinos so far this year, and the US represents a very big opportunity for us.”

The latest casino sign-up was announced earlier this month, when an unnamed multi-state US casino operator struck a deal to offer GameAccount’s Simulated Gaming online experience. The new service is expected to be available following regulatory approvals in the fourth quarter of 2014.

Simulated Gaming, developed specifically for US land-based casinos, offers monetisation features and a portfolio of more than 100 slot, table and skill-based games.

Smurfit added that the benefits for US land-based casinos of offering online services are now too valuable to ignore.

“The US has a slow regulatory cycle, but there are very exciting opportunities for land-based casinos that are prepared to move online as it increases the value of existing casino patrons and attracts more customers,” he added.

“Most casinos have websites in the US, but most have no games to play on the websites and simply offer promotional or basic information. With those websites, people can’t interact with them, but we are giving US casino operators another reason to go online.

“In the US the relationship between the public and casinos is different. A casino is a beating heart of the social community, and they have a real opportunity in the online space in the future.”
