Potawatomi Hotel & Casino in the heart of Milwaukee has unveiled plans to expand its hospitality offering through the development of a second hotel tower.

According to the resort’s operator, the Forest County Potawatomi Community, construction of the 180,000sq.ft tower will begin later this year, pending application approval, and is expected to open in the spring of 2019.

The project represents another $80 million investment in the community. The second tower will house 119 rooms and suites, bringing the hotel’s total number to 500, along with a spa and additional meeting space.

Potawatomi Hotel & Casino opened in 1991 as a bingo hall. After several expansions, which included the addition of the first hotel tower in 2014, it is now the most visited entertainment destination in Wisconsin, welcoming more than six million visitors annually.

The property features 2,500 slot machines, nearly 100 table games, a 1,300-seat bingo hall, seven restaurants and a 500-seat theatre.

“While guest response to the hotel has been phenomenal since its opening in 2014, the Forest County Potawatomi Community had great foresight in preparing for a second tower during original construction,” chief operating officer Rodney Ferguson told TotallyGaming.com.

“The footings for the second tower have always been in place in anticipation of an expanded hotel.”

According to Ferguson, Potawatomi Hotel & Casino will remain operational during the construction of the second tower. “The project should not hinder the guest experience,” he said.

“By adding nearly 60 suites to the property with this expansion, we’re prioritizing our casino guests and their experience when visiting. The rooms, along with the spa, will bolster the property’s reputation as an attractive destination for visitors in the region and beyond.”

It is anticipated that 50 permanent hotel jobs will be created as part of the project. The property currently employs nearly 2,700 people, making it one of the top-25 employers in the Milwaukee area.

Totally Gaming says: Since opening in 2014, Potawatomi’s hotel has been overwhelmingly popular with visitors. The addition of the second hotel tower will further expand the resort’s ability to offer first-class hospitality services to entertainment-hungry guests from across North America.
