CEO Roger Raatgever is positive about the deal with Evolution

Microgaming chief executive Roger Raatgever has told TotallyGaming.com that the software developer and new partner Evolution Gaming are already looking at ways to broaden their relationship.

The two operators recently announced an agreement that will see Evolution become the preferred provider of Live Casino services to Microgaming’s European-focused customers. The partnership is already under way with Betway becoming the first Microgaming operator to begin the integration process through its UK and Belgian sites.

While the two companies have been rivals in the past – with Microgaming’s Live Dealer an industry leader – Raatgever said that they have found areas of mutual interest, and have not ruled out further areas of cooperation.

“The online gaming industry is highly competitive, and naturally we keep a close eye on the competition,” Raatgever said. “We recognise and appreciate that Evolution’s 100 per cent focus on the Live Casino product has enabled them to make an imprint on the industry, and we felt their product will be a good fit for our European-based operators.

“At the same time, Evolution recognises that Microgaming is a giant in the gaming world, with an unmatched operator base. There is mutual respect between both parties, and we seem to share the same ethos, in that we only want to work with the very best. Therefore, forming an alliance was quite natural and easy.

“Our relationship with Evolution is going from strength to strength, and we’re pleased with the progress being made with taking Betway live. We hope to extend our relationship further through the potential provision of Microgaming content via our Quickfire platform.”

On signing the deal, Jens von Bahr, chief executive of Evolution, said it was “likely to be one of the most significant strategic deals in the history of Live Casino gaming”.

Microgaming will offer Evolution’s multi-platform standard and VIP live games streamed from their Latvian studio, as well as localised Live Casino services such as London Roulette, which is streamed from native speaking tables at Evolution’s Malta studio.

While the two will work together in Europe, Microgaming will continue to push its Live Dealer service in other regions, with Raatgever sure of the benefits for both companies, as well as their clients and customers.

“Essentially, the agreement will enable us to strengthen our current offering, which includes popular table games and Playboy Live Dealer, further afield, penetrating new markets and strengthening our presence in existing ones," Raatgever said.

“For us, Live Dealer is a vital part of the product mix and this deal signifies the importance we place on it. We truly believe it’s a win-win for everyone - Microgaming, Evolution and our extensive, global operator base.”
