The world’s first 3D virtual reality online casino, SlotsMillion, is now available to players in the UK after parent company ALEA.com received its licence from the UK Gambling Commission.

UK players now have access to a portfolio of more than 700 slots from 26 game developers, including Microgaming, Red Tiger Gaming, Quickspin, Merkur Gaming, NextGen, Pragmatic Play, Leander, Core Gaming, Blueprint, Games Warehouse, and NetEnt.

SlotsMillion has taken a mobile-first approach from inception, and offers one of the most seamless and engaging experiences on the market. Its mobile portfolio stands at 500 games strong, one of the largest in the UK.

Games can be accessed across iOS, Android and Windows operating systems, from any smartphone, tablet and desktop device.

Those who own an Oculus Rift headset can also walk through the doors of the SlotsMillion VR Casino, which is located on the virtual top floor of a modern, sleek skyscraper building and boasts a lounge, bar and dozens of slot machines.

TotallyGaming.com caught up with co-founder of SlotsMillion, Alexandre Tomic, to discuss the potential of the VR slots.

Totally Gaming: What percentage of your customer base use the OR VR equipment?

Alexandre Tomic: Actually, we're working on a new mobile-focused VR product at the moment. The old version of our VR, the one compatible with Oculus Rift, is no longer playable in real-money mode, though it's still available in demo mode.

TG: How easy is it to integrate third party slots into the VR environment?

AT: Integrating third party slots into VR is really challenging, because it's a new technology and the games we emulate into the scene also have their own web technology. Displaying it properly requires the development of certain specific technical features.

TG: What is the potential for truly 3D slots? How can developers avoid them being a novelty and actually exploit the VR capabilities?

AT: The potential for truly 3D slots is huge. This immerses the player in a completely new and fun way to play, using interactivity and 3D layer effects to create a more engaging experience. It offers a huge amount of new possibilities for players, such as 360 degree bonus games with interactive assets and 3D sound relative to surrounding animations.
