Mediatech hails benefits of R Franco deal for Spanish operators

Spanish land-based gaming supplier R Franco Group last week acquired a controlling stake in platform provider Mediatech Solutions, in a move that will lead to the creation of a new omni-channel services company. Here, Mediatech chief executive and founder Jessica Ordovas tells TotallyGaming.com why the link up with R Franco is good for both her company and the Spanish market...

TotallyGaming.com: Tell us more about Mediatech? What do you offer and who do you work with?

Jessica Ordovas: “We were founded in 2009 and are passionate about providing quality products and high levels of service to operators. I used to be an operator myself and found it hard to find technology providers who were fully committed to customer service.

“Our main product is IRIS, an open and very flexible platform. It offers one of the largest selections of content but is adaptable enough to offer different levels of operational service. We developed Iris because we noticed there was a real gap in the market for a platform provider offering a genuinely integrated and seamless customer experience; one that was agile and flexible enough to adapt to individual operator requirements.

“We work with best-in-class suppliers and now have over 17 game providers integrated. They include the likes of Micrograming and Playtech, but also specialised content leaders like Zitro and Net Ent.

“We’re also proud to be game-type agnostic. There are other platforms that consolidate just casino content, but we’re just as comfortable with sports betting, bingo, poker and we are currently growing our lottery side.”

TG: What was the attraction of the R Franco investment and what are you hoping to achieve through the deal?

JO: We’ve always had a strong omni-channel focus, so the chance to work alongside R Franco - Spain’s land-based industry leader - was always going to be appealing. Both Mediatech and R Franco concluded that the Spanish market was changing and that together we’d be uniquely positioned to offer a solution giving control back to the operator to help them manage that change. R Franco set up a digital arm 18 months ago and we hope that together we will not only be able to become the leader in Spain’s new SBG market, but also quickly expand our global business."

TG: You recently exhibited at ICE Totally Gaming, alongside a number of other platform providers. It seems to be a vibrant market, but you face stiff competition from the established platforms. What is different about Mediatech?

JO: “We’ve built our platforms with omni-channel in mind from the outset. Any platform that didn’t do this will find that the technical architecture can get very complex and will make platforms less agile and more expensive. Additionally, we believe that a good product without good service will not deliver what the operator truly wants.

“Operators want to navigate all the regulatory and technological changes with a provider who works as hard as them to ensure they provide their players with the right mix of content and operational efficiency. An operator needs to win the heart of each customer. Great ideas are one thing, but poor technology prevents them for doing that.

“In addition, we believe that we are unique in our compliance ability. We’re aware of operators going to exhibitions, seeing fantastic products, but then finding regulations prevent them buying them. Few competitors are willing to go that extra mile unless it’s a huge customer.

 “There is a lot of competition in this sector, but we’re very focused and have quality, modern technology and excellent service, evidenced by the fact most of our sales have been through customer recommendations, Now, alongside R Franco, we hope to continue investing and growing our products whilst maintaining our great service record.”
