UAE Pro League agrees partnership with Sportradar

Sportradar will provide statistics for all PLC competitions

At a press conference on Monday, The United Arab Emirates Pro League Committee (PLC) revealed the details of its newly formed partnership with sports data and technology company ‘Sportradar’.

In attendance at the press conference was by PLC Acting CEO Waleed Al Hosani and Sportradar representatives: Alex Inglot, director of communications and public affairs and Roko Coko Director Digital Sports APAC.

Detailing the contract, the PLC stated that it will house Sportradar’s regional office and will be appointed as the company’s regional partner for the Middle East region. In turn, Sportradar will provide statistics for all PLC competitions and contribute to its efforts to engage UAE society in the football sphere and expand PLC competitions followers base through social media.

Sportradar is expected to supply detailed data and statistics about players’ playing time and performances as well as complete match stats. The partnership between the PLC and Sportradar aims to provide a high-quality level of service to all Arabian Gulf League stakeholders in addition to making verified official data about players performances available to coaching and scouting staff and supplying match information to media outlets.

Inglot told TotallyGaming.com: “The PLC are incredibly progressive and ambitious and they are keen to see the Arabian Gulf football competitions lead the way in terms of getting the most engagement and insight out of the match data. When we started speaking to them, it became clear that their ambitions and ours matched and that we could really start to explore the full possibilities available.

“We will be delivering a full range of tools to the PLC, including match trackers, statistics centres as well as dynamic and shareable cards which they will be able to push out across their website, app and social media accounts. Also, the data will feed into the PLC’s own Fantasy League experience. Working together, we will also explore how we can ensure the media that cover the competitions can integrate this data across their coverage, previews and analysis, as well as across their own channels. And we will look to provide this insight to clubs to support their efforts around player performance enhancement, as well as fan engagement.”

Inglot added: “This is an exciting time and place to launch our data-driven offerings into the Gulf Region and working so closely with the PLC, we are confident that there will only be more opportunities available for us to explore in the UAE and further afield.”
