Senet launches new campaign ahead of Euros

The Senet Group is to step up its activities in the UK over the course of Uefa Euro 2016 as it seeks to reduce the risk of problem gambling.

With betting operators set to increase their own advertising via television and online portals over the next month, the independent watchdog will launch a refreshed version of its ‘Bad Betty’ campaign.

Senet said the national advertising campaign will “include football-specific messages and tips to help gamblers stay in control and spot the signs of problem gambling”. It added that it wants to “encourage responsible gambling during what is set to be the biggest gambling event of 2016”.

“Our ‘Bad Betty’ adverts continue to be very successful in educating gamblers to become more aware of the signs behind problem gambling, as well as encouraging a more responsible approach,” said Wanda Goldwag, the independent standards commissioner Senet, whose membership includes seven of the UK’s biggest operators. “Our expanding membership means that more gamblers and the wider public are exposed to our campaigns and we hope people will follow the tips in our new adverts during the Euros.”

Created by advertising agency The Corner, the ‘Bad Betty’ campaign features Senet’s slogan 'When the fun stops, stop’ and will run on television, in the press and on social media. Senet said recent independent research showed that the campaign has helped over a third of regular gamblers control their gambling, and more than two million people have directly quoted ‘when the fun stops, stop’.
